Gabriel Castro Suárez

Doctor Gabriel Castro is specialized in the area of Banking, Maritime and Administrative Law. He was born in Colombia on August 15, 1940. He practices since 1967 and studied at the Universidad Libre de Colombia (1965), University of Panama, Universidad de Chile and at the International Faculty for the Teaching of Comparative Law, Strasbourg.

He has hold posts as general director of Revenue of the Republic of Panama (1968-1969), Ministry of Finance and Treasury (1970-1971, 1983-1984), member of the Panama National Banking Commission (1970-1971, 1983-1984), as well as president thereof (1970-1971), secretary of the Board of Directors of Banco Nacional de Panama (1971-1984), Minister of the Presidency (1982-183), director of the Judicial Technical Police Force (1994-1995), director of the Public Security Council and National Defense (1995-1998), general comptroller’s office of the Republic of Panama (1998-2000), member of the Drafting Commission of the bank legislation of Panama and of different governmental commissions.

 

David J. Arosemena Samudio

David J. Arosemena Samudio has specialized in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Maritime Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation, Resolution of Dispute, Arbitration, Labor Law, Immigration and Naturalization, and Commercial Law.

He was born in Panama in 1962. He performed university studies at Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, at the Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua (Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science, 1987), and at the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencias y Tecnologia (master’s degree in Commercial Law, 1994). He is fluent in the English and Spanish language.

Licentiate Arosemena has been professor of Commercial Law and Contracts at the Columbus University and at the Universidad

Latinoamericana de Ciencias y Tecnologia, professor of Civil Law at the Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua and professor of Commercial Law at the University of Panama. He is a member of the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce, of the Arbitration Center of the Association of Public Accountants of Panama, of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) and of the National Bar Association.

He is the author of Successions, Panama Chapter, Kluwer Law International, The Hague, 1999; of Foreign Judgments, Panama Chapter, Kluwer Law International, The Hague, 1997; of El Derecho a Trabajar de Pensionados y Jubilados, Panama, 1992; and of El Acoso Sexual Laboral, Panama, 2006.

Fernando Berguido Guizado

Fernando Berguido has specialized in the areas of Corporate Law and Foreign Investment. He was born in Panama on October 15, 1962. He performed university studies at Vanderbilt University. He later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science at Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in 1987, with the cum laude distinction. In 1988, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Law (Fulbright Scholar) at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is fluent in the Spanish, English language and he has knowledge of Portuguese.

Licentiate Berguido has been a professor of Law at Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua; president of Fulbrigth Alumni Association of Panama (1989-1990); coordinator for Panama of the Law and International

Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He is president of La Prensa newspaper; vice-president of Instituto Latinoamericano de Estudios Avanzados (ILDEA); member of the Panama Chapter of the Federación Interamericana de Abogados; member of the Panama National Bar Association, of the Asociacion de Derecho Comercial de Panama, of Fulbright Alumni Association and of the U.S. Trademark Association. He is the president of the Panama Chapter of International Transparency. He was appointed by Executive Decree in 2001, as member of the Comision de la Verdad (Truth Commission).

Luis Manuek Borrell Azcárraga

Luis Manuel Borrell Azcarraga has specialized in the areas of Corporate Law, Civil and Commercial Litigation, Foreign Investment and Real Estate Law, Banking Law, Securities, International Trade, Aeronautical Law and Tax Law. He has perfect command of the English and Spanish languages.

He was born in Panama on December 25, 1979. He performed university studies at Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua (Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science, cum laude, 2004). Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business, Durham, NC, Summer Institute in Business, Communication and Culture (2004). Duke University, Durham, NC (Master’s Degree in Corporate Law, LL.M. Program, 2005).

He is a member of the Panama National Bar Association and of the International Bar Association.

He is the author of Introduccion a las Medidas Cautelares en el Proceso Civil (El Digesto magazine, 2004), Defraudacion Fiscal: Delito o Falta Administrativa (PAN AMCHAM magazine, 2006), and of Centros de Llamadas para Uso Comercial Call Centers (magazine of the Panama Banking Association and 2007 WISE’NVEST magazine).

Ana Luisa Castro Novey

Ana Luisa Castro has specialized in Corporate Law, Labor Law and in the area of Foreign Investment. She has perfect command of the English and Spanish languages.

She was born in Panama, on August 24, 1971. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science at Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua during the year of 1995. In 1996, she performed bachelor studies in International Law at American University, Washington and in 1997, she obtained a postgraduate degree in Labor Law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Santa Maria La Antigua.

Licentiate Castro is part of the Panama National Bar Association and of the Federacion Interamericana de Abogados. She is a member of the Board of Directors and secretary of the Panama chapter of Federacion Interamericana de Abogados. She is Vice-President of Comite de Derecho Internacional Publico y Privado of said Federation. Author of Las Reformas al Codigo de Trabajo.
